The Wheatsheaf keeps an excellent selection of locally brewed Jennings Real Ales and a selection of guest beers. The Jennings Brothers Brewery, located only 4 miles from our location actually started its life in Lorton in the nineteenth century.

Cumberland Ale - 4.0% Vol

Cumberland Ale

A superb golden coloured ale, brewed with malt made from specially selected Maris Otter barley and using only the finest English aromatic hops.

Traditionally brewed for over a hundred years, using pure Lakeland water drawn from the brewery’s own well.

 

Jennings Bitter - 3.4% Vol

Jennings Bitter

A distinctively darker bitter, with a really moreish taste and a very drinkable strength – it makes the ideal session beer.

Brewed with malt made from Maris Otter barley and Amber malt, to give a nutty flavour that supports a subtle blend of English aromatic hops.

 

Cocker Hoop - 4.6% Vol

Cocker Hoop

An award-winning golden bitter from an all malt brew, with Styrian Golding hops added at various stages, to give a classic hop flavour and aroma.

A bitter beer of great character, appealing to those drinkers who really appreciate their beer and are looking for quality.

 

Crag Rat - 4.3% Vol

Crag Rat

The nickname is given to a particularly enthusiastic climber in the Lake District.

Crag Rat is a refreshing golden coloured beer, brewed using pale ale malt and two classic varieties of English whole cone hops. The perfect beer for the enthusiastic ale drinker.

 

Sneck Lifter - 5.1% Vol

Sneck Lifter

An award winning beer, a strong, satisfying ale, wonderfully warming and full of complex flavours, which create an intriguing beer of great character.

This dark beer with a reddish tinge, derived from the use of coloured malts, perfectly balanced with specially formulated brewing sugars and English aromatic hops.

 

Golden Host - 4.4% Vol

Golden Host

A full flavoured, golden bitter, brewed using Maris Otter barley and all Goldings hops.

A generous handful of crystal malt has been added along with Fair Trade golden granulated sugars, giving a delicate flavour and subtle aroma.
